6″ Modern Military Sight Rail for .30-40 Krag Rifles

KragHaüs™ now makes a modern sight rail, precisely machined to fit the Krag barrel and using the existing sight screw holes. Made of lightweight anodized aluminum, these rails allow the installation of modern red-dot scopes (such as the Aimpoint or EOTech series) or long eye relief “scout” scopes, without damage to the rifle.

The “long rails” are 6 inches long. They extend from the location of the factory rear sight rearward to the shoulder of the receiver. The 6″ rail takes three mounting screws. Installation of the 6” rails requires the use of the existing rear sight screw holes, and drilling and tapping an additional screw hole in the barrel, one approximately 1/2 inch from the receiver and one approximately 2 inches from the receiver. The procedure is to attach the rail “finger tight” using the factory screw holes, and then using the rail itself as a template for the location of the other hole. This rail will not work with the wooden upper hand guards in place.

We strongly recommend that any drilling and tapping be performed by a competent gunsmith who is possessed of the proper tools.

Drilling a crooked hole or improper tapping procedure, even when it does not affect the safety or functionality of the rifle, can create a mess that is difficult to repair.
